dressing up is hard to do...

don't know about you, but we are loving the new laid-back "sweat style" that is all the rage from the fall runways to the streets of new york and los angeles. we're not talking about your old juicy sweats (sorry, paris hilton) but new a crop from designers like alexander wang and isabel marant who somehow understand that sweats can be sexy, sophisticated and stylish.

paired with a menswear-inspired button down, blazer and rock star boots (like those from the isabel marant runway show, top), the look is down right chic. stylish blogger garance dore even shows us how she created a copycat version of the alexander wang sweat shorts from an inexpensive pair of sweatpants she found at american apparel.

but the trend doesn't stop at the bottom. also look for blazers and tops this season fashioned in the sweat style. new at poole shop this week is the alexander wang sweat pant in grey and also a new geometric print sweat pant and blazer. whether your look is runway or d.i.y., get ready to get comfortable this fall.

movies we missed

summer is finally winding down, and we find ourselves with little to do this pre-labor day weekend. so maybe it's the perfect time to catch up on those summer flicks we missed while frolicking the days away...

quentin tarantino's latest film inglourious basterds,, is tops at the box office and might be worth the $10 tub of popcorn. if you're a tarantino fan, critics say this is his best film since 1994's pulp fiction. besides, who can resist a cast including brad pitt and diane kruger?

the new sci-fi thriller district 9 may not have the star power of other summer blockbusters, but we hear the aliens steal the show anyway. for an unexpected twist on the alien genre, check it out:

and if you're looking for something a little more light-hearted, audiences love julie & julia starring meryl streep and adorable amy adams.

slouchy is the new skinny

current/elliott took the fashion world by storm last fall with the introduction of the boyfriend jean, and now the brand takes it one step further as the boyfriend has evolved into the dad jean.

the dad has the same worn-in feel as the boyfriend, and the shorter length makes it the perfect companion for this season's resurgence of the oxford shoe.

embrace the slouch and your inner-tomboy and know that you're staying one step ahead of the curve. pair your dad jean with a t by wang and throw on a chunky cardigan when the weather cools down. stop by poole shop today to find your dad jean at the current/elliott trunk show.

time for a new look

we're all sick of seeing pictures of kate gosselin with her unfortunate hair plastered throughout the gossip mags, and seeing her in the latest issue of us weekly sent us over the edge: will someone please do something with that hair?? there's just something about the "back-to-school" season and getting a new 'do. so kate, please get a clue.

if you're in the market for a change yourself, think about what hair color says about your personality. studies (however unofficial they may be) have shown that blondes are perceived as fun, flirty and outgoing while brunettes are smart, serious, dependable and redheads are strong and hot-tempered. if a dramatic change is on your horizon, please take a note from style maven alexa chung (below) and go for an effortless look this season versus over-styled kate.

are you in or out?

recognize any of these faces? you will tonight after the long-awaited premiere of project runway, which has moved to the lifetime network for its sixth season. although the show is still hosted by heidi klum, mentored by tim gunn and judged by michael kors and nina garcia, the location has moved from new york city to los angeles. we can't wait to see if lifetime can produce a show as hip and engaging as bravo! but considering lindsay lohan is on board as the first guest judge of the season, we're expecting big things.

project runway premieres tonight at 10PM on lifetime.

runaway with this look!

kristen stewart channels her inner joan jett for her latest film the runaways, and we have to admit that we love her effortless style: a little disheveled; a little rock n' roll.

to make this style your own, all you need is a pair of skinny jeans, a worn-in plaid shirt and little bit of attitude...converse optional.

try the organic plaid shirtdress, $195.00 at poole shop, paired with current/elliott zipper leggings, $216.00, for a look that's comfortable chic.
