we're over this summer heat and getting ready for fall!

please excuse our little hiatus during the month of july. it was simply too hot in charlotte to start thinking about the fall fashions that have been rolling into poole shop. but now summer is drawing to an end, and we're ready for the new season (you've probably even seen us wearing our boots on days when the heat index is 100+).

so the word on the street is that if you want to invest in one piece this fall, make it camel. this classic color ruled the runways, and you'll see it everywhere: find it in trench coats, blazers, skirts, handbags and more. we're obsessed!

get a head start on fall this year by carrying over one of summer's hottest trends: the chino! as seen on city streets and country roads by celebrities and your average joes, the chino is comfortable, stylish and an easy look that anyone can embrace. we love them worn loose and rolled for summer but have noticed the fall trends are a little more streamlined. poole shop just received a pre-fall delivery from rag & bone with sexy, slim-fit chinos in classic khaki and navy. we're so excited this comfortable trend will carry us through the next few months...we're just not ready to give up on ease.

cover up in style

every girl loves a fancy cover-up, and calypso has perfected the art of the fancy. even though it's been in the 90s every day for the past two weeks, you could still use a calypso tunic while lounging poolside or while taking a break from the hot summer sun for some indoor afternoon cocktails. we especially love the navy and white combo for a classic spin on summer wear.

if you've been to poole shop in the past year, hopefully you've been lucky enough to stop in on a day when we've just received a shipment from lemlem--the handcrafted scarves, wraps and coverups that are the brainchild of supermodel and goodwill ambassador liya kebede. woven in her native country of ethiopia, we're proud to carry a line where the proceeds benefit women and inspire economic independence in africa.

we say you're "lucky" to stop by on a day when a shipment just came in because we send to sell out in a matter of days (or hours on one occasion), but tomorrow poole shop will host it's first lemlem trunk show. we've been working on this one for a while and advise you to come in early because we're expecting another sell-out.

next stop: tibet

the next stop on spring 2010's accessories tour is tibet. we've recently spotted trendsetting celebrities like jessica alba and rachel bilson in these adorable wooden bangles that are perfect for summer (and great if you're tired of the whole navajo thing by now). our buyer tracked them down for us, and we received our first shipment last week, so stop in and be the first to show off this new trend.

it's that time of year again...memorial day has marked the unofficial start of summer, and department stores and boutiques are ready to clear out spring merchandise to get ready for fall (and give you a deal in the meantime!). beginning tomorrow, poole shop spring merchandise will be 40% off, but as we were straightening the racks today before the ensuing madness, we came across a couple of items that left us wondering how did this make it to sale?

the karen walker stripe dress (above) has been a favorite of ours all season long. we're just waiting for it to find its proper home.

maybe we're just into stripes this season, but this stunning number from A.L.C. needs to find a good home as well. it's the perfect "patio dress" for summer cocktails or a wedding on the beach...
