whitesnake revival
can you guess what this is? we have to admit that when this jean, which we've affectionately nicknamed the white snake, arrived we were a little concerned with the 80s factor. are they too costumey? what were the girls behind current/elliott thinking when they came up with this one? and then we tried them on and realized they're actually quite cute. however, we recommend not wearing them skin tight. just throw on a cute cardigan and a wrap, and you're good to go!

boyfriend take 2
good news--you can stop raiding your guy's closet! yesterday poole shop got the boyfriend shirt from equipment (which is almost sold out, by the way) and today we're getting the boyfriend cord from current/elliott. worn loose and broken-in, this is the style that will carry you through the rest of fall and into winter. don't be scared of the slouch--the cords look way cooler with a little bag in your bottom!

six items or less
now that summer is (unofficially) over, it's time to focus on fall and all the new things you're coveting for your closet this year. while you may be tempted to go out and spend, spend, spend (there's something about a new season that brings out our inner shopaholic) we challenge you to take part in a phenomenon that is sweeping the country--wear six items or less for 30 days in a row. the rules are simple: choose six items from your closet; wear only those items for 30 days (accessories, shoes and undergarments don't count as part of your six, phew!). here are our suggestions for six items that will get you through:
finally, embrace a great fall trend--the bubble skirt--so you still feel on-trend. it's another easy piece to dress up or down; remember accessorizing is key to not losing your mind during this little test in self-restraint. good luck!

it's all about the current/elliott legging with its blend of comfort, style and adaptability. go with a classic dark blue-grey or jump on the season's trend with a pair in army green (you could even sleep in them if you wanted to take the challenge to the extreme).
the grandpa cardigan is back for fall! pick one in a neutral color and wear it open, buttoned-up or belted. the possibilities are endless.

a closet classic--the little black dress. chose a dress in a classic shape that you can dress up for evening or down for daytime (hint: throw a grandpa cardigan over it and pair with distressed knee-high boots).
| organic by john patrick |
items 4 and 5: organic by john patrick long sleeve tunic and fitted tee shirt. choose basic colors like black, white or grey so you won't be sick of it by day 5 (you'll be sick of everything by day 30 anyway).

an army of one
get your guns ready for fall's latest trend. what started with current/elliott's captain trouser and skinny cargo craze last spring has blossomed into a full-forced military movement. the captain trouser sold out in record time at poole shop followed by the skinny cargo, but if you get your strategy in line you can still have a piece of the action with the new army denim legging that just arrived. stay tuned for more exciting news from current/elliott and few of your other favorite designers...

the new robin hood
we hear all the buzz surrounding the upcoming cannes film festival has to do with a guy named robin hood. not wanting to be left out of the mix, poole shop has put together some fashionable sherwood forest finds that are sure to tame even the wildest rogue in robin hood's band of merry men (or women as the case may be). we love the cargo pant's new look (as seen on rachel bilson) -- skinny, sexy, and perfect for blending in with the foliage while out on the hunt. pair them with a pair of strappy flat boots, like the pirate boot from vivienne westwood (below)--and you're almost ready to start swinging from the trees.
*check out the new current/elliott skinny cargo that just arrived at poole shop ($248).

spring forward

photos from denimblog.com
tomorrow marks the official beginning of spring, so it's time to slather on the l'oreal sublime and free your legs from the prison of winter. just in time to welcome the new season, poole shop received it's first jean short today from current/elliott. just like the boyfriend jean we couldn't live without, the current/elliott rolled short is slouchy yet sophisticated and the perfect entree into spring.
while gwyneth paltrow (above) takes dressing down to a new a level with the boyfriend short, we recommend pairing yours with a simple button-down and cardigan similar to the look we see from katie holmes--her taste in men may be questionable, but the girl knows how to dress. when it's time to shed the sweater, opt for a flirty, feminine top from tucker or calypso to keep the style from going too casual.

yeehaw!
in fashion it's inevitable that what's old is new again. lately we've found ourselves bored with the skinny jeans look and tired of cramming them into our boots for a "chic" daytime look. a recent drive to work past a school bus stop clued us in that this style is on its way out when we saw a six year-old mimicking our look. on our search for the next "great" jean, we came across a style that's an old favorite and as classic as a worn-in levi 501: the current/elliott western jean. we love the soft, broken-in denim that hugs your body in all the right places yet leaves room for a taco or two (see yesterday's blog!). the slight bootcut has just the right leg opening so you won't feel like you're stuck in a time warp wearing the same bootcut style as when "designer" jeans (remember seven, citizens of humanity) took the world by storm in the early 2000's. and we love that current/elliott tells you exactly how to wear the jean as the inside label states: this jean is to be worn fitted with a bootcut opening, yeehaw!

rock and roll is here to stay
on sunday, november 29th, HBO will air four hours of the 25th anniversary rock and roll hall of fame concerts, and all the buzz leading up to this monumental event has reminded us that rock and roll and fashion have always gone hand in hand. to honor this special occasion, poole shop has found the best rocker-chic looks of the season and put together one serious outfit. of course, feel free to take your own creative license by dismantling our look and working the separate pieces into your own wardrobe.born to run: we can't tell you how much we love alexander wang's natasha pump ($490), and it is the perfecting launch pad for the rock and roll girl. put these on, and the rest comes naturally.
satisfaction: how cool are these tie-dye leggings from j brand ($205)? as soon as you pull them on, you'll be chanting "under my thumb" and channeling mick jagger while dancing to the music in your head.
whiter shade of pale: a simple top will not due for the rock and roller, so that's why the cage top ($295) from alexander wang is perfect. the slashed shoulders give this classic shape a new attitude to help unleash your inner badass.
walk on the wild side: when ordinary denim just won't do, check out this black studded denim jacket courtesy of current/elliott ($475).
rockin' in the free world: the perfect little bag to sling across your body to top off your rockin' look. alexander wang gunny ($620).

slouchy is the new skinny
current/elliott took the fashion world by storm last fall with the introduction of the boyfriend jean, and now the brand takes it one step further as the boyfriend has evolved into the dad jean.the dad has the same worn-in feel as the boyfriend, and the shorter length makes it the perfect companion for this season's resurgence of the oxford shoe.
embrace the slouch and your inner-tomboy and know that you're staying one step ahead of the curve. pair your dad jean with a t by wang and throw on a chunky cardigan when the weather cools down. stop by poole shop today to find your dad jean at the current/elliott trunk show.
